DESCRIPTION

The MLWIR (Long Wave Infrared) series of cooled infrared detectors is engineered for the long-wavelength infrared band, generally spanning from 7.7 μm to 9.4 μm. Compared to shorter wavelengths, LWIR offers superior penetration through atmospheric moisture and fog, enabling reliable imaging performance under harsh weather conditions. These detectors use a cooling mechanism to minimize thermal noise, thereby boosting sensitivity and overall functionality. They come in resolutions of 320×256, 640×512, and 1280×1024, with pixel sizes of 30 μm, 25 μm, 15 μm, and 10 μm.
Built on state-of-the-art Type-II superlattice (T2SL) technology, these detectors deliver high quantum efficiency and exceptional performance. The Type-II superlattice sensitive material provides outstanding infrared responsiveness, making it possible to detect minute temperature differences—an essential feature for high-precision applications. This material also enables a broad and adjustable wavelength response, ensuring effective operation across various infrared bands, with a focus on the LWIR range.
Engineered to resist interference, the MLWIR detector series excels at target detection in cluttered environments, such as identifying ships on sunlit waters or aircraft against cloudy skies. These detectors can be seamlessly incorporated into advanced imaging systems and are widely used in high-end applications including handheld reconnaissance units, remote surveillance systems, search and tracking platforms, enhanced flight vision systems, electro-optical payloads, and spaceborne electro-optical systems.
